Happy New Year

Set the bait this morning for Mac - following her Activities Timetable yesterday, I made one for myself.  When I came out this morning, she had already written up her own and stuck it up on the wall right beside mine!! With hands on hips and head cocked to one side, eyes narrowed, her first words of the day to me were "What is this supposed to be?....." (pointing at my list). Is this a joke?"  I swear she is a 16 yr old trapped in a 6 yr old body.

Ended up taking all 3 (6,5 & 3 yr old) to the movies to see Madagascar 2. Febes (Phoebe) was actually very good this time - not once did she crawl around under other people's seats to scavenge for dropped chips, lollies and popcorn. She sat with me for the entire movie, and only announced LOUDLY to all "I THINK ITS TIME TO GO HOME NOW MUM"  three times.  And an added bonus today - Mac didn't throw up maltesers all over the back seat on the way home this time.  Quite a positive Cinema experience for once.... Luke Skywalker was, as always, a perfect movie patron and car traveller.

BREAKING NEWS/BREAKING NEWS/BREAKING NEWS...
It has been confirmed that a 36 yr old, Toowoomba father of 3, ACTUALLY went to a doctor today. He allegedly didn't suffer adversely from the encounter, and even received quality medical attention, a script for anti-biotics and a diagnosis for his recent ill health - tonsillitis. Reports indicate he even told his wife it was just as well she made him go as the doctor said he was in fact EXTREMEMLY ILL.
It hasn't been verified as yet, but he may even see the doctor again sometime in 2009, should the need arise.

Happy New Year everyone. Damo,we too are staying in, and have also told the kids its "movie night!!!" They have been counting the sleeps. Its just some movies on Austar on the Disney channel that they have on DVD, but the fact its appearing on t.v. makes it oh-so-special.

Can a 6 yr old be too controlling???

Mac has been giving us written instructions for a while now (top pic) but this morning she handed me today's schedule of activities. Seems she has taken on the role of "Entertainment Director".  At least she factored in some  Free Time after lunch....

In a moment of impulse, she deviated from the Activities Timetable, and challenged me to a game of scrabble....which she flogged me in.

No coffee art today. Adan is still sick, and its just no fun being in a competition with no other competitors. having said that I did do a very nice Hibiscus this afternoon....

Check out the storm cloud sitting over us yesterday afternoon.

Coffee art Comp cont'd

Adan's not playing today. Sick bubba. He thinks he picked up some filthy virus from the Brisbane Airport on Saturday when he went to pick up his Dad. I am usually a compassionate person, but hope he keeps his sicky germs to himself - I am a bit over ill health personally, after the Great Shingles Debacle early in December....
Anyway, here is MY entry for today....

Cheap dates

Forget the theme parks, movie cinemas and Wii - our 3 are such cheap dates!! Give them a torrential downpour and you would swear its Christmas. This is how they spent their Sunday afternoon.  Not sure the towels are serving their purpose when worn IN the soaking rain....

Coffee Art Competition

Adan doesn't know it but we're having a coffee art competition - him and me.
Every time he makes me a coffee, he does some new little picture on the top....as Carm, Cate and Kath will agree, I have some work to do in this area. Anyway, after he made mine this morning (see below) I then went and made another with my own very special picture....

This is Adan's...

And this...is mine!

See - its a cat!!

The only way he will know he's involved in this competition is if he bothers to go and read my blog!! Which he won't, so I will just have fun this week while he's home making me coffees, and secretly going head-to-head in the coffee art. I should have rigged up some kind of voting system for blog followers I guess....

Who broke it?

This WAS my back screen door as discovered yesterday...it wasn't always like this. Adan denies any knowledge of HOW it came to be like this, as do Mac, Luke and Febes (Phoebe). Have been asking to have a decent screen door installed for ages - now someone has had a good crack at sabotaging it, I might just get one. Pity whomever is responsible can't own up - I was going to REWARD them!!! At last I can get my new back door!!

Wishing we were back at Fraser Island after looking through some photees...but then after reading today about the croc sightings and even worse, the number of tourists expected up there this time of the year, maybe its better we're not there. After all, it WAS a bit glary....(the benefits of wearing your sunnies hey kids...)

Who knew... that Christmas toys, gadgets and games are unnecessary when you have a plastic grocery bag to play with? My kids spent the last 2 days playing with said bags - this one was a "camp shower" that they filled with water, hung from a tree branch, poked holes in the bottom of, and stood under to have a shower. They also cut holes in the bottom of a couple more bags, stepped into them like big undies, wrapped sticky tape on the bag around their chests, and announced they were "cavemen". If you saw how many presents- toys galore, books, games etc they received from family, friends and of course, Santa - only to ditch them all for a couple of plastic bags from the cupboard.....we'll all know better for next Christmas.
