lemonysnickett

Out of lemon flowers
loosed
on the moonlight, love's
lashed and insatiable
essences,
sodden with fragrance,
the lemon tree's yellow
emerges,
the lemons
move down
from the tree's planetarium
Thankyou Pablo Neruda.
We are slowly being buried alive with lemons - what with both our trees sagging under the weight of the BUMPER crop at the moment (must be those coffee grounds) there are lemons EVERYWHERE!! We have taken to giving bagfuls away at school, to the neighbours, friends - whomever wants them. We have feasted on lemon meringue pies, lemon delicious puddings, lemon cordial, lemon curd, and have cleaned with home-made lemon based cleaning products, and anyone in the family suffering from coughs and colds at the moment have been force-fed a honey and lemon and apple-cider vinegar concoction. Any new fresh ideas for lemons greatly appreciated!!!

Just because

No - its not Valentines Day.

No - its not my birthday.

No- we did not have a disagreement.

They were given "just because I thought you needed them at the moment".

Nice, Adan. Very nice. How can anyone not love a bouquet of flowers?

And, yes, I did need them at the moment. Very intuitive of you Tull. Very much appreciated too.

Hello winter

Poor Betty Beama was slapped with the cold harsh reality of winter this morning - and had a nice thick crusty layer of ice to boot!! That's what happens when you rip down the garage and shed and have no roof cover to speak of to park poor Betty under. Don't tell her, but tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be even colder than our -1 temp this morning. Perhaps she needs a nice thick horse rug thrown over her tonight.....lucky for the anti-freeze in her radiator!!

Sports day in Cloudland

School sports day today...note the heavy cloud of fog. This was at about 11 am - you should have seen it earlier! That's the price you pay for living on top of the Great Dividing Range.
Very glad its all over for another year....

Peculiar Senior Behaviour

Luke is home sick from school today with a disgusting cough. While hanging out the washing in the back yard, Luke wandered down the side of the house towards the front yard, then returned shortly afterwards to have the following conversation with me...

L - Mum, why is there an old lady with a bucket and a rake in our front yard?

Me- I'm sorry, did you say there's an old lady with a bucket and a rake in our front yard?

L- yes.

Me - Is she still there?

L - yeah.

So, bewildered, I wander out to the front yard to see and old lady with a bucket and rake walking out of our driveway gates, getting in her car, doing a squealy u-turn in our street. I stand there, flummoxed about the scene I have just witnessed. AND to top it off, she didn't even shut the gate!!...........
