He wins

I took Mac shopping today and we came home with new shiny black pumps (for her, not me), and some new bug catchers for 3 kiddilinks from Australian Geographic.

Adan went shopping, with Luke and Phoebe in tow and came home with.........................

A BOAT AND TRAILER!!!!!
I am so outdone today. I must concede defeat - Adan is the all-out shopping winner today.

Blue Suede Shoes Perhaps not

Not really much to blog today - I have been consumed by ElPresidente issues and up till midnight every night this week because of them. Today I am conducting interviews for staffing (Did you know I get to hire and fire!!!) and have been writing Selection Criteria, researching/ plagerising Interview questions, talking to DOCS, C & K, P & O, H.Q. , ASAP, SCUBA and any other ...oh no - mental blank - what's the word used to describe letters given to a series of words to make a new shorthand type word????Anyway - WHO CARES? So- my Interview Material is now prepared (I had to make 3 packs for each panel member). Have no kids at home today. Am VERY VERY TIRED because ALL 3 kids have been playing TAG TEAM between the hours of 12;30am and 3:00am EVERY SINGLE NIGHT this week, coming in to me with bad dreams, tummy ache, headache, lost teddy, "do I have a torch?", "Mum - is it Kindy tomorrow?" issues, and the late nights, ElPresidente tasks, and CONSTANT BROKEN SLEEP is really starting to BUG ME!!!! So, I am going lie on the couch, watch Pay TV, doze in and out of sleep, NOT do any housework (again) and have some much needed "Down" time before I have to put on my Power Suit, pop in the shoulder pads, slap on the heels, and with a splash of Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, head off to interview the waiting applicants.

Now - about the photo. Adan picked these glorious numbers up during our trip to Sydney - persuaded not so subtley by Antonia Banderes, the Argentinian Polo Playing Demi God who served him (I even asked Adan in the change rooms if we could take Antonio home and keep him as a pet. He was LOVELY. Adan said no). We weren't sure if Toowoomba was quite ready for such progressive fashion footwear, but Adan bought them anyway. (It would have been really nice if Antonio carried them home for him) Aren't they spesh?!!!! If I was a boy, and no, I am not - I would LURVE a pair of shoes like that. In fact I would probably buy the same pair in a couple of different colours.....

Crazy Irish

From mischevious little leprechauns clunking down the hallways to, well....those in the community who embrace a good excuse to dress up in theme for St. Paddy's Day (or perhaps this is just normal attire...who knows?) ....ya have to love St.Patricks Day don't ya????!!!!! If you've seen that email doing the rounds featuring "Craig" and his desire to start a Dress UP Group...maybe these girls were about to sign up...

my new pet

Check out my new pet parrot....
we had the kids' school's Race Day on Saturday and all frocked up in our finery for the affair, complete with parrot. It behaved itself for most of the afternoon, although very late in the evening it did perch itself on my shoulder and ask for a drink when I was at the bar......
Damo - you won't believe who I bumped into at the event...Donna Grundy!!!

Please rewind

Have decided this week really sucks. Would like to rewind and tape over it. It may, or may not, have something to do with insane management committee-related issues at the Kindy, or the fact my right shoulder is causing me AGONIZING PAIN, or that poor bubba Febes was up last night vomiting and cooking with a fever, and we were in the bath at 1am, and I was washing sheets and pillowcases and pillows and p.j.'s at 1:15am, and making Febes' bed up with new bed linen at 1:20am and spent the rest of the night lying next to her in her bed, while she thrashed and kicked and had night terrors caused by fever..... therefore hugely SLEEP DEPRIVED today. Probably none of those things really...might just have to have some camomile tea to fix the problems of the world...

Happy Birthday Jude

It was vegetables at tonight's Maeve Binchy-esq drawing class...so , Jude in honour of your birthday pet, I knocked up a still life of a chilli, a baby capsicum and a grape (which, I know, is not a vegetable, but that's what the teacher plopped down next to my chilli and baby cap....) I apologise for the unfinished work (still need to shadow the bubba cap) but didn't want to miss your special day.
Love pet. Always love.

should I leave them there?

We have a VERY tall avocado in our back yard. This afternoon we also had a couple of monkeys climbing up this tree - a little bit TOO NEAR the top for my liking actually. Should they find themselves stuck, Mum will NOT be climbing up to retrieve them....so, do I leave them there, or call in the SES....

UH OH What Have I Done

Please note the medal presented to me by one of the teachers at Pheobe's Kindy last night....(Yes - a Friday night - how my life has changed). Why a medal you ask??? It seems that I am now the President of The Glennie Community Kindergarten....I wonder if Barack felt like this?

An exotic dish

Met up with some Mum friends today, at a certain coffee establishment, which may, or may not have the word "Club" in it.... and asked for - DARE I SAY IT... toasted bread topped with sliced avocado. The person serving just stared blankly at me and seemed to be waiting ... so I then said "Oh, and a flat white coffee please". Still staring blankly. Awkward silence. Eventually the person said "so - a piece of toast.....And avocado sliced on TOP of it??????? Is that what you're wanting???????????????????????????????"

"Yes" I replied. "Is that a problem?" Person - "Noooooo....just not quiet sure what you're wanting us to do" Person then looks at the register for a REALLLLLLLY long time....Me - "Is there something wrong?" Person - "No. Just don't know what to press for your order" Person eventually selects something which rings up a price of $7.30 for the highly exotic Avocado on Toast I ordered. If I hadn't have been so darn hungry, I would have told her, politely of course, where to put her $7.30 piece of toast.

Waitress/chef arrives shortly after with my order- and stands there STARING at me. "Yes?" I said. W/C : "Ummmm - is this what you were after? Have we done it right????" And shows me the piece of toast with slices of avocado on it. "Yep. that's it. Thanks." W/C : Um ....don't you need some cutlery and napkins with it?" "I'll have a napkin thanks." She leaves, and then returns with requested napkin...and cutlery. "I think you'll be needing these." she says and leaves again. Then, (my friend and I were only just managing to hold it together by now) out of sheer spite, I ate the piece of toast with MY HANDS and did not even touch the cutlery. What an act of defiance. Could not believe the reaction to asking for a piece of toast with sliced avocado on it. Is it really THAT obscure?????

off the hook

"Teach" let me off the hook with my homework tardiness...and last night we got to draw FRUIT!!! It was just like a Maeve Binchy novel I swear - I'm the youngest in the class by, well, several decades I am guessing, and me and my new Senior pals sit around musing over our fruit and our Hb and 2B pencils, listening to Irishy-folksy-Pan-Pipey music.....This is my attempt at Fruit Drawing. Bids will be taken starting today - the highest bidder, of course, claims the PRIZE!!! Actually, its a work in progress, and is not ready for sale just yet. As you can see, I still have some ways to go with the apples markings and flecks on the skin......Commissions anyone - I can do bananas, pears, (no citrus please -the dimply texture would stump me I'm certain....)

Ooops

After being away for a week, realised it was Tuesday today and that means Drawing Class tonight...then, oops!!! Remembered, all too late it seems, that I had homework from the last class....and yes, I hadn't done it. So at 1:30 today I started my "homework" and tried desperately to complete the somewhat complex Cut Strip Tonal Exercise...which translates to get a b & w picture, cut it into 4 thin strips paste them onto the paper and using a pencil, contour lines, shading, mark making produce a work of art.... Uh-oh. Doesn't seem to be something I can knock up in 15 minutes.......
