"When your child is ill" Letter B

It seems my family is working through the book of possible childhood ailments as quickly as they can. This week, Phoebe has chosen Letter B - for Bronchitis.

I am working through the book of possible SEX and The City Cocktails, and I have chosen Letter V - for VODKA STRAIGHT UP

Across the Country

Luke happy to find out it was just 2 laps of the oval today for Cross Country for the Prep kids - not ACROSS THE COUNTRY as he first thought.
Mac finished well - despite the fact she was on the verge of vomiting when the race was over.

No free loaders

If children insist on being too young to go to school EVERY day, then put them to work on their days at home I say. Hey Febes, I think you missed a spot......

Gotta love visitors

Looky looky who did visit us tonight - JIM JAM!!! Lovely to see Jim too. Kids were amazed we were having a visitor for dinner on a SCHOOL NIGHT!!! Wish I had have snapped Robert's pic on Saturday when Mr. Aisthorpe dropped by for a coffee or two when he was in town that afternoon. I do love a visitor......

Aaah the serenity

Enjoying the sounds of silence.....for the FIRST time in 4 weeks, I am home alone. That's right. NO sick kids. NO school holidays. Just ME. I am not putting any music on, nor tv, nor washing machine or dishwasher as they would all detract from the glorious sound of nothing. Just some sweet birds twittering...oh, and the coffee machine melodically gurgling (albeit very softly).

Aaaaahhh. How I have LONGED for this day.......

Not in my day

Had a quick visit to Rita and Briza's during the week and in the pantry look at the bounty I did find. A whole shelf devoted to confectionery!!! Containers full of contraband. Any wonder my kids always cry when we leave.....I can assure you this type of fare was not to be found in the pantry in my day!!!!!

Home alone

Adan has taken the kids with him this morning which has given me some HOME ALONE time - and after the last couple of weeks with at least one sick kid home every day...I REALLY needed it. But I am never really alone - not anymore, now I have Sporticus to keep me company. Thanks to my friend Anthea, who gave me the lovely gift (above) I always have the cheery little fellow around the house somewhere. If you have to ask "Who's Sporticus"...then you clearly need to have more kids t.v. shows in your life. (See "Lazytown".....) Do you know there are hundreds of groups on Facebook devoted to Magnus Scheving (aka Sporticus)? Personally, for me, Magnus needs to be in his superhero costume ....

Time to fire up my beloved coffee machine and make another coffee, spread todays papers out in front of me and enjoy the sound of silence - a rare, and truly beautiful sound in my house - before Ades and kiddieWinks return......

Oh, and Happy Easter everyone.

Is this a safety breach?

Towing one's little sister by the dog leash WHILST (that's for you Damo) sitting in a storage container - downhill on a gravelly driveway.....is this breaching WHS guidelines perhaps? He IS wearing a helmet.....Maybe if Febes had a roll-bar, and cage-type frame around her I might feel less alarmed... Anyway, it proves my point - who needs hand-held computer games?

Morning mayhem

Sometimes I feel the same way at breakfast time, Febes......

After having Luke Skywalker home all last week with a chest infection, this week the baton has been handed to Mac Attack, who is home today with Viral Croup. (Even saying it makes my throat start to hurt) Doctor Jellybean says there's nothing to give to fix it -just the usual fare - parecetamol for the temps - not even Vicks. Did you know a "study" has been done on good ol' trusty Vicks Vapour Rub and its copped a sledging?!!!! Will try creating that jungle like environment with the Vapouriser machine (not good for my just straightened hair) to help curb the seal barking cough. Any good remedies anyone has that has a pretty good success rate with Croup, feel free to pass on.

Old ground coffee beans perform miracles

Have been tossing some of the old ground coffee beans (freshly ground OF COURSE!!) onto this orchid for some time now, and low and behold, look what has bloomed!!! Arent they MAGNIFICENT?!!! I think maybe its time for our business to start Value Adding and incorparating a "Coffee Fertiliser" line into our product list......In the background you will also notice my bumper crop of assorted lemons and limes, which also cop a dumping of ground coffee beans each week. I am telling you - I AM ONTO SOMETHING!!!!!! Perhaps I need the marketing department to come up with a catchy name for my new Organic Caffiene Fertiliser ...oh, that's right I AM the marketing department...I could make it my Blog Page Competition - to name my Coffee Fertiliser. You have to admit, these orchids ARE spectacular.

Eccentricity rocks

No pic for this, but boy did I wish I had my camera with me. Out on a solo stroll today when this little old man comes riding toward me on his treddly - one of those with the dragster-esq handle bars that you have to reach up almost above your head to grip - and he was sporting a cowboy hat, with large Fonzie-like bike helmet fitted over the top, and safety goggles like the ones the man on Better HOmes and Gardens insists on wearing to measure timber planks, and high riding old man pants...and as he began to pass me he grinned a big toothless (completely toothless) smile and in a really squeaky (even squeakier than David Beckam) voice said "Gidday!!!!!" and pedalled past blissfully. Goodness, it made me so happy to see the dear old fellow so happy himself...and that lovely squeaky old man voice was the icing on the cake. If only I had my camera with me.......you really need a visual to believe it. I hope I meet "Squeaky" again one day. I will have my trusty Fuji with me next time.

Tullytown resumes

Last week my trusty old dinosaur laptop died. So for a WHOLE WEEK I have had absolutely no computer. Can't believe how much this affected me. Anyway, this is my new baby - a black, shiny new notebook. Mmmmm - she is lovely. Such a good computer. So, I can resume Tullytown once again. And email...And FB.....and ebay.......and google.......
